Larry K. Ellingson

Larry K. Ellingson is the Chief Executive Officer of Protemix Corporation, a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery, development and commercialization of novel treatments for cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, and other metabolic disorders. Based in the San Diego offices of the company, he will focus on extending and developing Protemix’s commercial relationships on a global bases. In particular, he will work to progress Laszarin™ through international Phase 3 (human) trials for the treatment of heart failure in people with diabetes.

Mr. Ellingson, a registered pharmacist, received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from North Dakota State University in 1969. He brings a wealth of experience in diabetes care at the global level, having served over half of his career in diabetes care at Eli Lilly and Company. Prior to assuming his duties as CEO of Protemix in 2005, he was the Executive Director for Endocrine Professional Relations and Advocacy at Eli Lilly. Prior to that, he served as Director of Pharmaceutical New Product Planning with responsibilities for gastrointestinal, skeletal, endocrine, and pulmonary diseases at the global level. He also assumed responsibility for marketed products in those areas in the late 1980’s.

In addition to his business experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Ellingson has a record of service in the area of diabetes. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and is a lifetime member of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). In addition to participation on international task forces with the ADA and IDF, he also serves on the Board of Trustees for North Dakota State University (NDSU), is an advisor to the Pharmacy School at NDSU, and is a board member of the Research Park Board of NDSU.
