George A. Guido

George Guido was appointed in January 2007 to the role of Executive Director of Health & Community Alliances (HCA) in the Corporate External Relations division of Corporate Affairs. In this role, George oversees all aspects of alliance building and charitable contributions at the community, state and national level. For the previous two years, George was the Director of Federal Alliance Development in AstraZeneca's Washington, DC office. George developed federal ally strategies and oversaw all aspects of alliance building within Washington, D.C.- based patient, professional and other healthcare-related organizations that align with AstraZeneca's portfolio.
George has more than 20 years experience in alliance development. Prior to joining AstraZeneca, George was Director of Worldwide Constituency Relations at Burson-Marsteller, a global public relations/public affair firm. During his 10 years at Burson, George represented the pharmaceutical, food & beverage and energy industries and successfully crafted and implemented national and global stakeholder outreach programs to help diffuse criticisms, raise brand awareness and provide a forum to communicate messages to pertinent constituencies, the media and the public. George also spent 8 years working in community-based and national non-profit organizations.
George currently represents AstraZeneca as vice chair of the Alliance Section of PhRMA, serves as Board President of the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition, Board President of the National Education Association's (NEA) Health Information Network, and Membership Committee of the National Health Council. A graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland with a bachelor's degree in political science, Mr. Guido has also studied in Oxford, England at the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. George recently moved from Rockville, Maryland to West Chester, PA with his wife Julie, his 3 daughters and one son.
