Marsha Stanton is a registered nurse with a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration and Education and a Master of Science in Health & Human Services. She currently serves as the Deputy Executive Director for the American Academy of Pain Management, and as an Associate with FnP Associates, LLP. Her career has spanned clinical practice, program development, health professionals education, and advocacy development. She is nationally known for her work in the area of pain management, and has published and presented in this field. She has served in leadership roles with the American Society of Pain Management Nurses, Utah Pain Management Nurses, American Academy of Pain Management, and Pain Management Education Consultants. Prior to assuming her new positions, she served as the Director of Medical Education at Purdue Pharma, L.P. where she was responsible for professional education of nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physicians, pharmacists, and others at national, regional and international levels. In addition, in this role, she served on the corporate advisory council for six professional associations. In April, 2006, she will receive the Distinguished Service Award from the American Society of Pain Management Nurses.
