Center Stage: Adolescent Immunization

Nurses and Nurse Practitioners have contributed to the advances in immunization coverage for infants and preschoolers, decreasing the incidence of common vaccine-preventable childhood diseases by almost 100%. In recent years, new vaccines have been added to the adolescent immunization schedule, and more adolescent immunizations are in development. This article reviews the epidemiology, disease characteristics, and indications for each adolescent immunization.
