Harnessing the Power of the Arts in End-of-Life Care
In partnership with the non-profit City Lore, NPHF has developed an e-learning CE course and an extensive toolkit addressing the use of the Arts in end-of -life care. The elearning course, Harnessing the Power of the Arts in End-of-Life Care, showcases compelling stories and images of the use of the Arts to offer culturally sensitive care to people at the end-of -life. Faculty for this program are folklorists, painters, sculptors, dancers, singers, and tradition bearers. The End-of-Life Toolkit has a rich array of materials and resources to support end-of-life care, such as poetry, videos, books, podcasts, expressive art forms and websites.
The goal of these two educational offerings is to showcase how the healthcare professional can use folk and community-based arts as a tool to ease the transition from life to death in a sensitive manner that takes into account cultural diversity. The e-learning course and toolkit are funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
